WHO AM I?

Hello!

My name is Monique and I am an educational strategic tutor.

What that means is I figure out what key areas a student needs help with and match them with evidence based strategies.  I create a focused growth plan for that student. This allows me to zone into what may be holding the student back from being successful with reading.

My experience has always been with children in education and psychology. I have always enjoyed tutoring young students.

 

When I became a mom I shared my love of reading to my kids. Then about 3 years ago I decided to tutor students online part-time. I knew if I was going to spend time away from my family I wanted to do something that I enjoyed. 

 

In 2017, I started teaching English to kids online. I teach all the essential parts of learning English or any language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. My students ages range from 3 to 13. I have taught over 3,000 classes.

During this time, I have received feedback from parents about what they found helpful in my sessions. One of the major comments was how their child became a stronger reader. Reading is very important to a child’s success no matter what language they speak. I talk about books with my students and encourage them to read what they enjoy. Overall, I noticed that my strong readers were successful in learning English as a 2nd or 3rd language.

It made sense from what current research is showing us.

In 2019, I decided to start tutoring reading online as well to students internationally. This platform allows me to reach any student which I am excited to do.
